What to expect from
your orthodontic journey

Step 1 – Your initial consultation

We’ll begin with a warm welcome and a comprehensive smile assessment. During your consultation, your orthodontist will assess your teeth, bite, and jaw, and talk you through any early concerns or treatment opportunities. If X-rays are needed, we can take them on-site. Whether you’re ready to begin or simply planning ahead, you’ll leave this visit with clarity, options, and confidence.

Step 2 – Full orthodontic records

Before starting treatment, we’ll gather a complete set of orthodontic records. This includes high-quality photos, digital scans, and panoramic and cephalometric X-rays - taken right here at our Helensvale or Benowa clinic. These records help us plan every detail of your treatment with precision.

Step 3 - Getting started with treatment

If you’re having braces, they’ll be placed in a relaxed 1-hour appointment. Once fitted, we’ll walk you through everything you need to know - like how to care for your teeth, what foods to avoid, and what to expect over the coming months. If you're starting with clear aligners instead, we’ll show you how to wear and care for them with confidence.

Step 4 - Review appointments

Throughout your treatment, we’ll see you every 4-10 weeks for quick check-ins and adjustments. Visits usually take 15-45 minutes and ensure your teeth are moving as planned. We’ll make any needed changes to your wires, brackets or aligners and answer any questions you may have.

Step 5 - Deband
day & retention

When your braces come off, we’ll celebrate your new smile - then focus on helping you keep it that way. We’ll place fixed retainers behind your teeth and take a fresh scan or impression for your custom removable retainers. You’ll also receive clear instructions for aftercare, and we’ll see you for follow-up retainer checks to make sure everything stays beautifully in place.
